Radiation Therapist

The radiation therapists operate the linear accelerator and give patients their daily radiation treatments under the supervision of the radiation oncologist.

Amanda Lisher, CMD, MS, BHS, RT(R)(T), has been the Chief Radiation Therapist with Lawrence Cancer Center since 2009. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Washburn University with a Bachelor of Health Science in Medical Imaging in 2003. In 2015, she completed her Master of Science degree in Medical Dosimetry with the University of Wisconsin La Crosse. She is certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and the Medical Dosimetry Certification Board. She is a member of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists and the American Association of Medical Dosimetrists, and is licensed by the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts.

Colby graduated with honors from Washburn University with a Bachelor of Health Science, Medical Imaging. She also has an Associate degree in Applied Science, Radiologic Technology along with Certificates in both Computed Tomography and Radiation Therapy. She is registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist and is licensed by the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts.

Kristina Simmons, MA, ARRT, RT(R)(T), graduated Summa Cum Laude from Washburn University with a Bachelor of Health Science, Medical Imaging in 2010. She graduated with honors from MidAmerica Nazarene University with a Master of Arts in Business concentrating on Healthcare Administration in 2013. Kristina is registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologiests, is a member of the American Society of Radiologic Technologist, and is licensed by the Kansas Board of Healing Arts.

hayleyHayley Pletcher

Hayley graduated with honors from Washburn University with an Associate degree in Applied Science, Radiologic Technology and a Bachelor degree of Health Science, Medical Imaging. She also has a certificate in Radiation Therapy. She is registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, is a member of the American Society of Radiologic Technologist, and is licensed by the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts.

Dosimetrist

Your dosimetrist works under the supervision of the board-certified radiation oncologist. The dosimetrist takes the dosage of radiation you were prescribed and determine how to deliver the dose and will calculate the amount of time it will take to deliver the dose.

suzySuzy Bradley

Suzy is a Certified Medical Dosimetrist and completed her training at the University of Kansas Medical Center in 1997. Her training in Radiation Therapy was completed in 1993, also at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with an Associate degree, Radiologic Technology and a Bachelor of Health Science, Medical Imaging degree from Washburn University. She is registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and the Medical Dosimetry Certification Board, as well as being a member of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists and the American Association of Medical Dosimetrists. She is also licensed by the Kansas Board of Healing Arts.

Nurse Practitioner

Our nurse practitioners specialize in the care of cancer patients and their unique needs. They work with the team to care for you and your family and will explain possible side effects of treatment and how you can manage them. In addition, they assess how you are doing throughout treatment and will help you cope with the changes you may experience.

miriamMiriam Slaugh

Miriam is a native of Lawrence, KS. She joined Lawrence Cancer Center in January 2014. She earned her MSN degree from Washburn University and BSN from Baker University. She has 20 years of combined experience as a registered nurse and nurse practitioner. She is a member of Oncology Nurses Society and American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Miriam loves being part of the oncology team providing patient-centered care, spending individual time with patients, and supporting families through the cancer continuum.

Miriam is married and has 2 children. She enjoys attending her children’s activities, volunteers with Boy Scouts, and involved in several community groups. Her interests include quilting, reading, cooking, and spending time with her family.
